UECK Scores Big — and Makes IndieWire’s Top 10
8/19/2026
Our Bob Uecker documentary UECK opened in 17 Marcus Theatres across Wisconsin on July 24 and brought in $126,943 in its first week — an average of nearly $7,500 per theater. Not bad for a documentary about a backup catcher!
The strong opening earned the film a second week at all 17 Marcus locations, adding another $60,940 and bringing the two-week total to nearly $188,000.
And then came a pleasant surprise: UECK landed on IndieWire’s national Top 10 Specialized Releases chart for two consecutive weekends, ranking #10 for August 7–9 and climbing to #9 for August 14–16.
That put our little Wisconsin release on the same national chart as films from A24, MUBI, Neon, HBO Documentary Films and other major independent distributors. And unlike most of those companies, we were handling the theatrical distribution ourselves, with a release concentrated almost entirely in Wisconsin.
The theatrical run followed two sold-out screenings at the Milwaukee Film Festival in April, where UECK became the fastest opening-night sellout in the festival’s 18-year history.
Directed by Steve Farr and Michael Vollmann and produced by Barry Poltermann and Jeremy Coon, UECK tells the story of Bob’s remarkable journey from professional baseball player to legendary broadcaster, comedian and unlikely national celebrity.
The response has encouraged us to expand beyond the original Marcus engagements, bringing the film to independent theaters, historic movie houses and special-event screenings across Wisconsin.
We’re especially grateful to Marcus Theatres, the Milwaukee Brewers, Molson Coors and all the local partners who’ve helped make the release possible.
And thanks to everyone who’s bought a ticket, brought a friend or helped spread the word. It’s been wonderful seeing audiences come out to celebrate Bob on the big screen.
